Fulltime Seasonal Fair Trade Store Coordinator

About You
Commitment to JRPC values and mission.
Interest in, knowledge of, and willingness to learn about ethical business models (fair trade, locally made, upcycled, sustainable, etc.).
Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
Friendly and willing to have dialogues with store shoppers & JRPC members.
Retail/customer service experience is desired, but we are willing to train the right person.
Awareness, understanding, and willingness to learn about various social movements.
Basic computer skills required.
A creative eye for store display and design.
Reporting Relationship
This position will report directly to the Executive Director for day-to-day operations and will also be working with the Fair-Trade Merchandiser and Buyer on tasks related to the store.
Essential Job Functions
Support the Mission of JRPC
Keep informed about JRPC activities via participation in committees and communication with the Executive Director
Encourage growth through membership and outreach to people who enter the store
Support other programs and initiatives of JRPC
Education and Outreach
Promote fair trade and alternative retail.
Maintain educational information in store about fair trade and stories behind products.
Create and take advantage of outreach opportunities to educate the community about the fair trade program.
Ensure staff and volunteers are familiar with and comfortable talking about fair trade and products in the shop, including Pride, and gender-inclusive merchandise and significance.
Plan and execute tabling events within the Missoula community during the summer months.
Member & Customer Service
Retail register operation.
Answering questions and/or directing folks as needed.
Answering the phone.
Greeting and assisting customers and members.
Checking member status.
Supporting the mission of JRPC.
Keep informed about JRPC activities, encourage growth through membership, and outreach to people who enter the store.
General Store Operations
Keep informed of the narratives of the makers and stories behind the merchandise.
Maintain a clean and organized retail space.
Keep inventory stocked at appropriate levels, especially best sellers and maintain merchandise.
Assist with updating the online store and inventory.
Assist in the planning and execution of sales and store events (e.g. First Fridays).
Assist with the pricing and display inventory.
Assist with backend (Square) inventory data entry and maintenance.
Manage the tissue and bag inventory. Coordinate with E.D. on the purchase of these items.
Work with Center Coordinator on social media and newsletter posts and blurbs for the store.
Physical Requirements
The job requires being present in the store 35 hours each week, light lifting, some standing and walking, use of a keypad for Square, and phone usage.
