Job Overview
Chambers Landing Bar & Grill is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient individual to join our kitchen team as a Prep Cook. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables and marinating meats, to support the efficient operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities
- Ingredient Preparation: Prepare ingredients for menu items according to recipes and portion sizes, including washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing vegetables, and marinating meats.
- Stocking Supplies: Ensure that all necessary ingredients and supplies are stocked and readily available for the kitchen team, including spices, herbs, sauces, and other cooking essentials.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep work areas clean and organized at all times, including refrigerators, freezers, and prep stations, adhering to sanitation and food safety guidelines.
- Assist Line Cooks: Support line cooks during service by preparing and portioning ingredients as needed, ensuring that orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Follow Recipes: Follow recipes and cooking techniques provided by the head chef or sous chef, maintaining consistency and quality in all prepared dishes.
Skills
- Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of basic food safety principles and practices, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items.
- Knife Skills: Proficiency in using knives and other kitchen tools to chop, slice, and dice ingredients with precision and efficiency.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects, as well as bend, stoop, and reach to perform various tasks in the kitchen.
