Equine Therapy Program is looking for 2 new TEAM members!
Both positions are part-time, primarily weekday mornings, with some flexibility.
BARN MANAGER POSITION Are you ready to put your STRONG horse skills – riding/training/general horse care & knowledge – to work?! Equine Therapy program located in south Reno is looking to add a Barn Manager to our TEAM!
(20 – 25 hours per week) works with program Directors to determine/implement the comprehensive care of 9+ program horses. This includes:
Evaluate/oversee feed & supplements
Determine & implement schooling/exercising of program horses
Schedule & oversee veterinarian/farrier/chiropractic care
Interface with Friends coordinator to see that horses receive required daily care
Oversee the maintenance of horse tack and ancillary gear
Oversee and directing the Barn Assistant, scheduling them for assigned tasks
Other tasks as directed
BARN ASSISTANT POSITION - Here is your opportunity to hone your horse skills and knowledge! Must be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation. You need good, solid basic horse skills including: basic knowledge of both mounted Western & English Riding and Ground work (Can tack up and ride walk/trot/canter independently. Good basic knowledge about the care and feeding of horses and simple care or equine illness/ injury.
(12 -1 5 hours a week) under the guidance of the barn manager collaborate and implement the comprehensive care of 9+ program horses. This includes:
Schooling/exercising horses – both mounted and ground work
General Horse care
Tack and program equipment/arena maintenance
General first aid/treatment of minor horse illness or injuries
This is an entry level position and you may be required to help with basic chores, such as feeding horse, cleaning stall and water buckets.
