Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityWe are seeking a Sports Coordinator to play an active part in the wellbeing of our students at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland by organising and overseeing sporting events, with a focus on our students based in the Halls of Residence. This role is based in Hiwa Auckland's State-of-the-Art Recreation Centre, a vibrant new hub for health, fitness, and community in the heart of the city campus.In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of inter-residential sports tournaments and student sports events. This includes managing registrations, scheduling venues, health and safety, organising officials, and prize-giving, while ensuring a high-quality experience for participants. You will also work with internal and external partners and support university teams competing in national inter-tertiary tournaments.Your core responsibilities will include:Programme Management of Sports Events: Oversee key elements of sports tournaments and programmes, including planning, marketing, registrations, logistics, officials, and health & safety.Sports Events Coordination & Collaboration: Coordinate various sports and recreation events, working closely with both internal teams and external partners to achieve desired outcomes (e.g., Inter-residential events).Performance Review & Improvement: Review all completed programmes and tournaments, using customer feedback and critical analysis to recommend improvements.Club & Team Development: Assist sports clubs in building their capabilities and manage logistics for the University's participation in national inter-tertiary tournaments (including budgets, travel, and staffing).Resource & Financial Oversight: Manage the operational budget for sports activities, monitor spending, and ensure efficient, optimal use of financial resources.Service & Safety: Deliver the highest level of customer service and ensure timely, accurate communication while strictly maintaining quality, safety, and adherence to University conduct policies.This is a Full-time (1 FTE, 37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
