Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for a Centre Cook/Chef to join our team at Te Ako o Te Tui Early Childhood Centre. The centre cook plays a vital part in what we do. We place huge importance in offering our children local, fresh and tasty food options – providing a healthy and balanced diet that fuels their learning, growth and development. We have a Gold Healthy Heart Award.We value someone who is passionate about providing quality, healthy food options, has great communication skills and can work efficiently & independently. You will work with our menu, as well as our Centre’s policies, Food Safety regulations and health and safety protocols.Key tasks include, but are not limited to: Preparing and serving of meals, including: morning tea, lunch and afternoon teaMenu planning and working alongside our partner Learn by Heart, ensuring we’re adhering to a healthy and balanced diet for our TamarikiAllergy management and catering for children with food allergies and intolerances (a good understanding of this is imperative)Budget management: purchasing appropriate ingredients and ensuring sufficient stocks are on hand.Placing food orders online (must be a confident computer user)Ensuring health & safety standards and regulations are met and maintained at a high level at all timesMaintaining a high level of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen. Managing time and recourses in the kitchen efficiently.This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.

Remuneration is $50,700 - $61,700 per annum, depending on skills and experience. 

This role is Monday to Friday, with working hours approximately 9:00am to 4:00pm, including a 30-minute lunch break. You'll have evenings and weekends free!
