Staff Accountant/Payroll Administrator (Berlin, NJ) LOCATION: Onsite in Berlin, NJ Must have DelTek Costpoint experience This individual will work with occasional supervision in performing specialized professional accounting duties in support of the overall accounting system. The individual may exercise supervision of one or more staff or clerical persons. The individual will also make decisions concerning the complex accounting of financial transactions. The individual will exercise good judgment and initiative but will allow for a review of his/her work for a determination of the adequacy of his/her judgment. Technical accuracy will generally not be checked beyond the application of standard tests of accuracy. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for general and cost accounting functions, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, cash management, property accountability and records management functions. 2. Preparation of monthly financial statements (e.g. balance sheet, statement of income & retained earnings, and statement of cash flows). 3. Recommend revisions and/or additional accounting procedures and policies to satisfy new conditions created by changes in existing programs or projects, and by the acquisition of new business. 4. Audit, analyze, and investigate ledgers, and journals in conformity with the GAAP, FAR and Company’s accounting policies and procedures. 5. Assist Controller in the study of and developing of accounting methods and systems to accurately reflect the Company’s financial status. 6. Recommend changes to and maintain internal controls 7. Responsible for the accumulation of cost for job cost reporting and job cost profit/loss analysis. 8. Accumulate and compile various data using ledgers, cost schedules, and accounting tools necessary to ensure the accurate and proper treatment of accounts. Also, to ensure the proper recording of cost elements. 9. Prepares customer invoices and all applicable supporting documents. 10. Preparation of monthly journals entries. 10. Approve accounts payable vouchers and cash receipts for accuracy and proper allocation of cost. 11. Familiar with the rules and regulations of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and their applicability to Government Contracts. 12. Coordinate technical accounting problems/solutions with other departments to improve existing reporting methods. 13. Coordinates the activity of the accounting department with contracts to ensure that all contractual obligations are met. 14. Responsible for training and staffing of staff accountants and clerks. 15. Assist the Controller in internal audit functions. 16. Assist Controller in the preparation of the annual financial budget, 5-year financial plan, and annual incurred cost submission. 17. Liaison with software and hardware technicians. 18. Special projects as assigned by Controller and/or senior management. REQUIREMENTS: The individual must have a BS/BA Degree in an associated discipline, or the equivalent of directly related experience in accounting functions; must have experience with DelTek Costpoint; must have experience with excel.
