About Shir Chai Co.
Shir Chai Co. is a startup café focused on quality, consistency, and professional service. We are building a tight, experienced bar team and are hiring experienced baristas, with opportunities for qualified candidates to step into Barista Shift Leader roles.
This is not an entry-level position. We provide orientation on our menu, workflow, and standards, but we do not provide foundational barista or espresso training.
Who This Is For
We are looking for coffee professionals who can work independently from day one.
Candidates must already be able to:
Operate a commercial espresso machine confidently
Dial in espresso independently and make adjustments throughout the day
Work efficiently and consistently in a professional café environment
Barista Responsibilities
Prepare and serve high-quality espresso and specialty beverages consistently
Dial in espresso and adjust grind, dose, and extraction as needed
Operate, clean, and maintain espresso machines and grinders
Provide professional, welcoming customer service
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar and café
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company procedures
Perform well in a fast-paced, standards-driven café environment
Barista Shift Leader Responsibilities (for Qualified Candidates)
In addition to barista duties, shift leaders will:
Lead and oversee baristas during assigned shifts
Ensure staff are on task and following drink, service, and cleanliness standards
Support opening and closing procedures
Assist with scheduling, inventory, and daily operational needs
Help onboard and guide new team members
Act as the point person on shift and escalate issues to ownership when needed
Shift Leader roles are working barista positions with added responsibility and leadership during shifts.
Required Qualifications
Previous professional barista experience required
Proven ability to dial in a commercial espresso machine independently
Strong understanding of espresso extraction and milk texturing
Leadership or shift-lead experience preferred for Shift Leader consideration
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Ability to stand for extended periods and work weekends/holidays
