General Manager
Job Summary:
Busy Mechanic Shop is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain efficiency in our mechanic shop. This role requires strong leadership, diagnostic expertise, vendor management, part ordering, and hands-on mechanical ability. The ideal candidate will drive business growth while ensuring high-quality vehicle repairs and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Shop Operations: Oversee the daily workflow of the mechanic shop, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
Diagnostics & Repairs: Assist with diagnosing vehicle issues and provide guidance to mechanics as needed.
Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with parts suppliers and negotiate pricing for cost-effective solutions.
Part Ordering: Ensure timely ordering and stocking of necessary parts to minimize downtime.
Customer Service: Engage with customers, explain repair needs, and ensure a high level of service satisfaction.
Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and supervise mechanics and support staff, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to shop standards.
Scheduling & Workflow: Manage work assignments, prioritize jobs, and ensure on-time service completion.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain shop safety protocols, OSHA compliance, and industry regulations.
Financial Oversight: Monitor expenses, track inventory costs, and contribute to pricing strategies for profitability.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in an automotive repair shop, preferably in a leadership or management role.
Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle issues.
Experience with vendor management and negotiating part orders.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and maintain workflow efficiency.
Knowledge of shop safety procedures and compliance requirements.
Proficiency with shop management software and digital invoicing systems (preferred).
Bilingual Spanish/English highly desired.
