Summary:
The shipping clerk is responsible for coordinating and managing the shipment of products from the warehouse to customers. This role involves preparing and processing shipping documents, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Works closely with other departments to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtain and process product orders.
Receive, register and distribute packages within the shipping department.
Maintain the company stockroom through organizing, cleaning, and cataloging items
Prepare shipping documents, including packing slips, invoices, and shipping labels.
Schedule large shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items
Ensure the staff on hand can manage all incoming shipments
Keep files of goods shipped and received
Prepare regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
Handle issues arising in shipping or inventory handling.
Maintain organized records of shipping activities
Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems
Schedule pickups and coordinate with freight carriers.
Track shipments and provide updates to customers and management.
Ensure all shipments comply with company policies and legal regulations.
Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
Ensure the right product is received with the correct carriers
Job Specifications:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
1-3 years’ experience in shipping or logistics role preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including Microsoft docs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift items and containers (up to 50 lbs.)
Comfortable working in a warehouse setting.
Ability to move to all production areas of the plant.
Ability to stand a minimum of 8 to 12 hours.
Physically capable to move quicky to all areas within packaging areas.
Ability to work in an 80-degree environment.
