Job Title: Bouncer | Nightlife Security Officer

Location: South Amboy, NJ

Reports To: Security Supervisor

Job Overview:

The Bouncer | Nightlife Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patrons and staff at the Bar. This role involves maintaining a positive, respectful atmosphere, enforcing house rules and policies, preventing disruptive behavior, and managing access to the venue. The ideal candidate will be assertive yet approachable, with the ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism and calm. Shifts will be mostly Friday and Saturday evenings. Looking for 1 or 2 people to be the team that handles this. Need consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

Patron Safety: Ensure the safety of all patrons by monitoring and managing crowd behavior, identifying potential threats, and intervening when necessary.

ID Checks: Verify the age of guests to ensure compliance with legal drinking age regulations. Use scanner app on phone to ensure proper ID verification.

Enforce Venue Policies: Uphold the bar’s policies regarding conduct, dress code, and any other rules.

Conflict Resolution: Address disruptive or inappropriate behavior calmly and professionally. Diffuse tense situations and remove individuals if necessary.

Crowd Control: Monitor the entrance and the premises to ensure crowd control, avoid overcrowding, and ensure smooth entry and exit.

Support Security: Work with other security personnel when applicable, bartenders, and management to handle any incidents, including managing fights, ejections, or medical emergencies.

Monitor Intoxication Levels: Ensure guests are not overly intoxicated and take appropriate action if someone is too drunk to remain on the premises.

First Aid/CPR: Administer basic first aid or CPR in case of emergencies until medical personnel arrive.

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests in a friendly yet authoritative manner, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Incident Reporting: Document any incidents or disruptions and report them to the manager and security supervisor.

Requirements:

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, and handle physical confrontations if needed.

Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills to engage with patrons and staff.

Conflict Resolution Skills: Ability to de-escalate situations and handle difficult people with patience and professionalism.

Ability to Work Under Pressure: Maintain calm and control during busy hours, especially in high-stress situations.

Attention to Detail: Ability to spot potential problems and address them before they escalate.

Previous Experience: Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or as a bouncer is preferred.

Knowledge of Local Laws: Familiarity with laws regarding alcohol service, underage drinking, and personal conduct.

Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.

Heightened Awareness: Ability to remain alert and observant, particularly when monitoring large crowds or handling intoxicated individuals.

Work Environment:

- Fast-paced bar/club environment with a high volume of customers.

- Night shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.

- The role may involve dealing with difficult or unruly patrons, so a calm and professional demeanor is essential.

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to walk, stand, or remain on your feet for extended periods of time.

- Ability to intervene in physical altercations if needed.
