Location: Freehold, NJ Description: Our client is currently seeking a OSP Engineer in Freehold, NJ
This job will have the following responsibilities:
The Outside Plant Engineer is responsible for designing upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the Outside Plant telephony network. This includes all structures (such as poles and conduit systems), cable (copper & fiber) and associated equipment for aerial, underground, buried, submarine, pair gain, and digital loop carrier systems, preferably SLC 5, SLC 96, Litespan 2000 and/or Tellabs 1000.
The engineer monitors and analyzes activity within a geographical turf and designs solutions to maintain or enhance service.
The engineer coordinates professionally with a variety of internal departments and also has direct external customer contact with customers and partners including government agencies, other utilities as well as construction industry trades and contractors.
The engineer must be able to solve complex problems with innovative solutions, select and implement the most effective design and project manage the resulting work order through to completion.
The engineer has the authority, up to a set dollar limit, to choose and implement solutions independently. The engineer needs the ability to work independently in a diverse environment both indoors and outdoors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
3+ years experience
Must have a degree preferably in a Science and/or commensurate work experience directly in OSPE for a telecom firm.
Must have experience with IDDS/ICGS/Visio/MS Office
Must be familiar with engineering copper, fiber, FTTP networks Superior analytical, communication, project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal customer contact skills including negotiation experience.
The individual may need to drive a non CDL vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. The individual may need to sit, stand or walk for periods of time to accomplish engineering work including field surveys.
The individual may need to lift/move materials customary to a typical office environment.
The individual must have own transportation.
The individual must have the ability to work from home (broadband connection).
