Position Title: Associate Project Manager
Position Location: Belmar, NJ
Job Purpose
The Associate Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of projects and ensuring designs and drawings lead to a successful construction outcome.
The job responsibilities of the Associate Project Manager include:
-Support a Professional Engineer with all aspects of design and project development.
-Support all administrative aspects of engineering, design and construction plan development including permit submission.
-Setup new projects.
-Collect and complete permit documents.
-Projects include exterior lighting upgrades, HVAC relocations, and more.
-Coordinate local surveyor.
-Attendance at planning and zoning meetings on occasion. These meetings may occur late at night and after hours.
-Attend business development events, which may occur late at night and after hours.
-Travel to project sites. You should have your own transportation and valid driver’s license. Project sites are generally located within NJ, PA, and NY, but could also expand to other state.
-Travel to local city/township departments (ie Building and Zoning Department). City/township departments are generally located within NJ, PA, and NY, but could also expand to other states.
-Complete tasks and mark-ups as requested by the Professional Engineer.
- Develop skills and expand knowledge in Engineering.
-Additional tasks and assignments as required and assigned.
The Associate Project Manager may assist with the permitting process, developing budgets and schedules, evaluating bid proposals, perform site inspections, organize communications, and ensure compliance with client requirements, applicable laws and specifications.
The Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing their assigned projects including QA/QC. The role will support the Professional Engineering and may need to coordinate with general contractors, other design teams, engineers, architects, site staff and ensure successful outcomes from initiation to construction completion.
The Associate Project Manager will be self-directed on their individual work and receive high level feedback on new projects or assignments. The role will execute and lead tasks or assignments of complex scope. May coordinate activities of other personnel.
The Associate Project Manager will communicate and operate in line with organizational and client goals and values, as well as company’s objectives.
Essential Functions
Support all Elements of the Design Lifecycle (75%)
May develop construction plans. May work on markups or assignments as assigned by Professional Engineer.
Support all administrative aspects of engineering, design and construction plan development including permit submission.
May develop construction plans in AutoCAD adhering to industry standards for design and presentation.
Complete permit applications for building department, planning and zoning.
Visit local township/city departments (ie Building and Zoning Department)
Ensure designs and plans are delivered on-time and on-budget.
Complete tasks and mark-ups in other disciplines such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Structural Engineering
Develop RFPs as required.
Ensure client satisfaction through active communication
Ensure timely and effective design and plans.
Forecast time requirements and coordination of resources.
May visit project sites to collect necessary information.
Construction Support (10%)
Assist with pre-construction elements including RFIs, schedules, submittals, and budgets.
Give direction to external points of contact in support of design.
Evaluate bids, review project aspects with qualified contractors, and provide recommendations on contract award.
Manage Stakeholder Relations (5%)
Ensure client satisfaction through active communication.
Develop and build long-term client relationships
Act as the primary point of contact when assigned.
Continuous Improvement (5%)
Mentor other staff members to create a learning and growing environment.
Provide input on team member performance and make recommendations for advancement.
Contribute to organizational training and standards development
Develop skills and expand knowledge in Engineering.
Administrative (5%)
Provide reporting via email summaries with photo documentation.
Assist in project contract administration. Assist with project closeout.
Complete permit applications as required.
Manage personal and project hours using company tools
Create / complete departmental reports
Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned
Requirements
Position Requirements
The successful candidate should possess the following baseline requirements to perform their assigned role:
General knowledge of engineering.
Basic knowledge of engineering trends and construction procedures and best practices.
Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction of buildings and sites.
Knowledge of engineering practices related to the financial services, light commercial
Exceptional organizational skills including file management. Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or willing to learn AutoCAD. Skilled at using construction management software.
Skilled and working knowledge of governmental forms and submission requirements. Able to develop and complete governmental forms. Able to effectively discuss forms and request with city/township departments.
Work M-F and have flexibility for occasionally working non-traditional hours
Follow company and site safety requirements
Analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence
Complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Operate with excellent organizational skills.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Self-manage work and prioritize tasks to complete critical path items first.
Communicate in both oral and written form both technical and non-technical information. Ensure proactive and effective communication.
Speak, write, and type in English.
Communicate directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact
Work independently and collaboratively with onsite and remote team members, clients, and construction team.

Office Requirements
This is an office role, based out of Belmar, NJ. While some duties of the position may allow for remote work, the employee will be expected to report to the office M-F and as the scope of work requires.
The employee is responsible for their own home office equipment, including desk, chair, etc. The Belmar office is fully furnished.
The employee is responsible for their own transportation to or from the office and project site.
Any time spent travelling to or from the office, before or after their shift respectively, is unpaid.
Travel / Relocation Requirements
Able to travel to project sites which may be local or regional (outside New Jersey).
After completion of initial project, travel to future project sites as required.
Education / Experience Requirements
B.A. / B.S. degree in engineering or related discipline
Plus,
Minimum of one year of experience.
Previous Civil Engineering Experience and/or Construction Experience.
