What unique gene will you bring?BMS BIA (Business Insights and Analytics) is a corporate function with the mission to create objective analytics and insights for business units to drive competitive advantage and accelerate growth. GPS (Global Product Development and Supply) business unit is responsible for the development, manufacturing and supply of quality clinical and commercial drugs to the right patients at the right time. GPS Analytics team partner with GPS stakeholders to develop advanced analytics capabilities and drive fact-based decision-making. Under the guidance of the Director of GPS Cross-Functional Analytics, this role will drive analytics capabilities for GPS enabling functions of Finance and SS&P (Strategic Sourcing & Procurement). You will have the opportunity to execute, learn and influence business results by using GPS financial and procurement data. You will serve as an active partner with Finance and SS&P teams to develop data driven insights focused on GPS cost visibility and effectiveness, procurement savings analysis, forecasting and tracking, and performance metrics. Understand critical business issues and value levers; communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of GPS Finance and SS&P business priorities, meeting agreed upon analytics deliverables and timing.

Support changes to operations, process or programs; champion movement to an organizational ‘Lead with Data’ mindset and fact-based decision-making culture.

Drive Analytics Capabilities for GPS Finance and SS&P

Design, develop and implement a broad array of business analytics related to drug manufacturing cost of goods, manufacturing components direct materials and third party sourcing purchase price variances, etc.

Solve complex problems in a computationally efficient and statistically effective manner – working closely with internal teams (GPS Finance, SS&P, BIA, IT) and external partners (onshore, offshore) to optimize solution and value delivery

Provide guidance, training and subject matter expertise to teams and employees in asking appropriate questions, selecting the right metrics, interpreting the data and translating data into actionable recommendations. Utilize appropriate escalation processes.

Collaborate with subject matter experts across BIA, IT, GPS Finance and SS&P to promote data governance and stewardship, aiming to improve overall strategic and operational performance and insight.

Drive Team Productivity and Operational Excellence

Manage a team of external analytics contractors and vendors when applicable or assigned.

Author detailed documentation for analytics tool development, assumptions and input data and any specialized data treatments. Author user manual for GPS Finance and SS&P user base.

Conduct detailed walkthrough and peer review of team’s work to ensure quality, cross training and knowledge management within the team.

Ensures consistent adoption of standards, processes and methodologies by contracted or other team staff.

Requirements

BA/BS in a quantitative major or concentration required; MBA or Masters preferred

5+ years of experience working in the area of data science, data analytics, data integration, reporting, including hands-on experience with analytics, modeling platforms, data manipulation software and visualization tools (e.g. Advanced SQL, PL/SQL, R, Python, SAP HANA, Spotfire, Tableau, Microsoft Suite, Redshift).

Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, written and verbal communication skills to ensure effective collaborations within matrix teams.

Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and priorities

Experience working in biopharmaceutical industry and advanced knowledge of its finance and/or procurement processes preferred

Experience in leveraging methods such as Design Thinking and Human Center Design to generate high value questions preferred
