Are you passionate about American Sign Language and creating inclusive learning environments? BeyondLimitations Empowerment LLC is currently seeking a skilled ASL Instructor to join our team and provide 1:1 and/or small group lessons to adults with disabilities, both virtually and in person across New Jersey.
Responsibilities:
Teach ASL to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an accessible and engaging way
Adapt lessons to various learning styles and abilities
Provide structured, patient, and supportive instruction
Track student progress and communicate updates with supervisors when needed
Utilize visuals, hands-on learning, and real-life scenarios to enhance understanding
Qualifications:
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL); native or near-native proficiency preferred
Prior experience teaching ASL (formally or informally)
Experience working with individuals with disabilities (especially autism or intellectual disabilities) is strongly preferred
Ability to create personalized lesson plans
Must have reliable transportation to travel to clients' homes or nearby libraries for in-person sessions
Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
Must be organized, communicative, and dependable
Degree in Deaf Studies, Education, Special Education, or related field is a plus, but not required
Bilingual (ASL + English) communication ability highly desired
