Overview
JMA Consultants is an Engineering/Architectural Consulting firm in the NY/NJ Metro area and has immediate openings for Architectural/Renovation Plan Reviewer. Our company has been in business for over 45 years, and we have excellent career opportunities available for the right individuals who are interested in working on reviewing all facets of apartment/commercial space renovations on the behalf of condo/building owners. JMA is well known in the industry for a streamlined, thorough review process that best protects the Apartment/Commercial Space Owners renovating their spaces, as well as all affected parties. Reviews include NYCDOB requirements, Building specific requirements, and proper practices determined by JMA, that vary based on the Building itself, as well as its construction. JMA not only understands but also prides itself in assisting all of its new employees in a full, hand-on, comprehensive training program to help those be successful in their positions as it relates to their job tasks, as well as additional opportunities within the firm, which can include Facade Restoration projects, FISP Inspections, to name a few. We are looking for a long-term and valuable team player that is willing to learn and grow.
Requirements/Responsibilities:
- Must be extremely proficient in the usage of computers and word processing. This job demands quick writing of reports and ease of reviewing multiple files simultaneously, including drawings, scopes of work, and specifications. Ability to parse through significant documentation is required as it is a regular occurrence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel is required. This includes the ability to format reports and basic Excel formula functioning.
- Proficiency in reading/reviewing/understanding of Architectural blueprints.
- Experience in Contracting work for, designing of, and/or consulting in relation to Apartment Renovations would be a major plus.
- While not necessary, Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture; EIT; RA or PE license would be a major plus!
- While not necessary, Façade, roof, consulting experience, NYC building codes and Local Law 11/FISP would be a plus and could lead to additional opportunities.
- While not necessary, proficiency in AutoCAD LT would be a plus and could lead to additional opportunities.
- Must be able to commute and work full-time in our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office.
- Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
- Excellent verbal, written interpersonal/communication skills with clients as well as intra-office. Must be proficient in speaking and writing in the English Language. High proficiency in grammar and spelling is mandatory.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The starting salary for this position depends highly upon the amount of training required, but the starting range would be approximately $75,000 for low experience and $100,000+ for highest experience, knowledge, and qualifications.
