Job Overview
Located in Northern NJ, Restoration 1 New Jersey is the area’s premier restoration, clean-up and reconstruction company. We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. This role reports to the CEO and will collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to get insurance approvals fast — so our clients can get back to their everyday lives.
The Estimator’s responsibilities focus on reviewing scopes and building solid estimates, using insurance guidelines, TPAs, and Xactimate. The goal is to get approvals and fast turn-round to help our jobs move forward. This is a hands-on, results-driven role with a direct impact on the success of our projects and profitability.
If you know how to write accurate, defensible scopes for both emergency mitigation (water, fire, mold) and reconstruction, we want to talk.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, write, and revise estimates using Xactimate for both mitigation and reconstruction projects
Collaborate with project managers to verify accurate scopes of work and ensure complete documentation (photos, moisture logs, etc.)
Submit estimates to insurance carriers/TPAs and follow through to get them approved quickly
Handle revisions, supplements, and negotiations with adjusters as needed
Help clients through the reconstruction process
Stay up to date on TPA requirements and carrier guidelines
Track estimate status and report on approval timelines, roadblocks, and trends
Assist in building internal best practices and estimating SOPs
Requirements:
3+ years in the restoration industry as an estimator, project manager, or similar
Proficiency in Xactimate (Level 2+ preferred)
Experience working with insurance carriers, TPAs, and adjusters
Strong knowledge of mitigation scopes (WRT, ASD, AMRT a plus) and general reconstruction practices
Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple estimates at once
Customer Satisfaction Oriented
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Able to work independently, problem solve, and push for results
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience reporting to business owners highly valued
Interpersonal skills to work with associates and interface with clients

To the qualified candidate we offer:
A full-time position with a base, annual salary between $70,000 - 85,000
