Job Description:
Prepare and bake a diverse range of baked goods, including pastries, cakes, cookies and breads, using written
recipes and prep procedures.
Decorate, cut, and neatly present all prepared baked goods. Assist with plating and Front of House bakery display.
May assist in recipe development and menu creation.
Safely handle large commercial bakery equipment and kitchen utensils, including, but not limited to:
o Convection ovens
o Stand mixers
o Food processors, blenders
o Commercial dishwasher
o Flat top grill and stove top
o Sharp knives, hot pans, etc.
Occasionally restock ingredients on shelves and at work stations throughout the kitchen.
Contributes to daily cleaning responsibilities of commercial kitchen, including maintaining and cleaning and
organizing prep stations. This requires an understanding of proper use of cleaning products.
Completes custom orders to ensure customer specifications and requests are met.
Maintains the company’s high standards for product freshness and sanitation.
Ensure all food handling operations are in accordance with state and federal food safety laws and sanitation
standards.
Rotate stock of refrigerated and frozen ingredients using the FIFO method.
Supplies customers and Front of House team members with accurate information about baked goods to answer
product-related questions.
Assists in other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
At least 18 years of age.
Previous experience at a bakery or equivalent for at least a year (preferred).
ServSafe or equivalent certification (helpful).
Knowledge of vegan baking and vegan ingredients.
Ability to lift up to 50lb bags
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time (up to 8hrs daily).
Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems when measuring ingredients.
Ability to interpret and follow instructions and solve problems.
Ability to work on a team of other bakers and collaborate on daily tasks.
Ability to self-manage as needed and complete daily required tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to work early morning hours.
This is a part-time position, with an expected 20 hour work week. Opportunity to work additional hours for staff coverage and during busy seasons.
Preferred Schedule: Early Mornings preferred. Potential flexibility for afternoon shifts. Wednesday to Sunday.
Pay: Base rate plus tips. Base rate increases after probationary period of 2 months (or until training is fully complete)
