We are seeking a dedicated Barista to join our team and provide outstanding service in our new café venue. In this role, you will ensure prompt and courteous service to members and guests, engaging them with tailored recommendations and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Weekend and holiday availability is required.
As a Barista at Edgewood Country Club, you will be responsible for:
Arriving to shift on time; if unable to work, informing supervisor as soon as possible
Wearing proper work attire, including uniform, shoes, nametag and apron
Attending required meetings (all staff, pre and post service and/or line-up sessions)
Performing set-up and breakdown tasks for service areas throughout the café and casual dining option, including special member events (such as private parties and gatherings)
Greeting members and guests promptly, answering queries and offering tailored recommendations to build strong relationships and deliver friendly, attentive service that ensures member and guest satisfaction
Providing members and guests with menu information and detailed product descriptions, including ingredient lists and addressing any allergy concerns
Preparing hot and cold beverages using a variety of techniques and equipment while maintaining quality standards, ensuring consistent quality by monitoring recipe accuracy and beverage volume
Heating, serving and bagging food and pastry items while ensuring the culinary department is informed when specific items are running low and need replenishment
Maintaining inventory levels of café supplies and ensuring organized storage, while communicating with the supervisor about necessary orders and ensuring all shelves are stocked for service
Keeping counters, shelves, workstations, display containers, coffee stations and beverage storage units clean, well-stocked and organized throughout the shift
Processing POS purchases efficiently and accurately while ensuring all member information is correctly obtained for billing
Actively selling a variety of café products and consistently upselling during interactions with members and guests to enhance merchandise sales by leveraging strong sales skills and member relations
Collaborating with team members to enhance overall service delivery and improve member and guest experiences
Keeping the café area clean by collecting trash from the seating area, sanitizing all tables, chairs and service stations and disposing of waste in designated garbage dumpsters
Informing supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur
Following food safety-related requirements as well as all laws, policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages
Completing other related tasks as assigned
Might be a good fit? You should apply if you are:
Experienced in the food service industry as a barista (minimum of one year)
Follows all club guidelines regarding table setting, order taking and service sequence
Able to read, write and execute basic math skills
Detail oriented, friendly and have excellent communication skills
Exhibit strong sales skills with an engaging and persuasive presentation style
Able to effectively communicate and recall from memory menu items, ingredient lists and merchandise items
Skilled in various hot and cold preparation techniques and proficient in using various kitchen equipment
Can quickly learn and follow oral and written instructions, seeking clarification when needed
Have the ability to work effectively within a small team and independently
Recognize occupational hazards and safety precautions, with the ability to follow safety practices
Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations
Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and maintain high professionalism
Flexible with working evenings, weekends and holidays
Comfortable working in hot, humid and/or noisy environment
Capable of standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending and/or reaching for long periods of time; can push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds
