Butcher/Foreman
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Butcher / Foreman to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cutting/preparing high-quality meats, learning and ensuring all product specifications of the company are always met, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. As a Butcher, you will play a key role in communicating with management to ensure the highest quality product is produced by your department. As a Foreman, you will need to have strong leadership skills, communication skills, and exceptional knowledge in all meat varieties and cuts as well as strong leadership skills.
Job Description:
- Leading and directing the meat processing room (cut shop)
- Prepare cuts of meat according to exact internal and customer specifications
- Ensure all meats are handled and stored and labeled properly to maintain freshness and wholesomeness
- Uphold high standards of quality control to deliver top-grade products to our customers
- Keep work areas safe, clean and sanitized to meet health and safety standards
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering supplies as needed
- Work closely with management to plan production schedules for your department
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Butcher in a supervisory position overseeing at least 10 workers (5+ years’ experience)
- Exceptional knowledge of different cuts of meat and proper preparation techniques
- Experience in the wholesale butcher meat industry
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and clearly
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to food safety & sanitation standards both internal and for USDA
- Ability to work well in a team setting and collaborate with colleagues
- Strong leadership skills to be able to guide and teach
Bilingual a plus
