Valid Driver License, must be issued and valid 3 years or more

Fluent in English and Spanish

Responsibilities include:

1. Daily safety check of vehicle;

2. Reporting immediately to the Administrative Office any problems related to the vehicle, routing or scheduling;

3. Reporting immediately to the director of nursing or the administrator any problems observed or encountered while transporting participants.

4. Safe assistance and transportation of client

5. Responsible handling of participant’s personal belongings, medications, and family communication which must be conveyed to the center.

6. Maintaining good rapport with family caregivers and clients;

7. Maintaining good rapport with the community;

8. Daily cleaning of the interior of the vehicle:

9. Daily "gas up" and weekly fluid check of vehicle;

10. Assistance in emergency evacuation of clients if inclement Weather (e.g. a hurricane) is threatened or if there is a power failure or other reason that the center must close;

11. Handling of emergencies en route until emergency assistance arrives at vehicle

Important Job Functions:

1. The Driver in coordination with the Transportation Coordinator will develop time schedules for participant pick-up and for their scheduled return home trip in a safe and secure manner.

2. Assists to develop participant transportation routes that incorporate the principle that no participant’s one-way transportation time exceeds more than one-(1) hour or not to exceed a total of two (2) hours for the total time spent daily in the provision of transportation.

3. Advises the Transportation Coordinator & Administrator which participant’s special needs seem to require additional assistance during transport.

4. Advises the Transportation Coordinator of participant cancellations and schedule changes to assure that each participant is accounted for daily.

5. Works in conjunction with “Bus Monitors” to ensure that participants mount and disembark the vehicle safely, and those participants who require assistance w/seat belts are assisted. All unusual circumstances relating to a participant (Incl, Health Issues, accidents, etc. must be immediately reported to supervisor)

6. Maintains Daily Transportation Logs including but not limited to: participants’ names, pick-up time, Center arrival times, Center departure times, and the time the participant is arrives back at his/her residence. (Not to be less than 5 hours total spent at the day care center.
