I am searching for a male certified nursing assistant, nurse, or physical therapist to assist me with activities of daily living.
I am a 48-year-old man with ALS. I am 5'6" and weigh 165 pounds. I have no use of my legs and very limited use of my arms and hands.
Currently I have a team of four aides that help me in the morning and evenings, but one is planning on cutting back his hours and ultimately will be retiring soon. The current need is for someone to work Fridays at 6 AM and Sundays at 7 AM or 8 AM.
I need help with the following in the mornings (typically requires 90 minutes; $75 per morning):
Transitioning me from the bed to my wheelchair
transitioning me from my wheelchair to the toilet and back
transitioning me from wheelchair to shower bench, washing me, and transitioning me back
brushing my teeth and hair
getting dressed
Successful applicants will have relevant certifications and experience, will be familiar with Hoyer lifts, will and be able to lift a 165 pound human safely and confidently, and will have experience caring for the handicapped. Successful applicants will also need to pass a background check.
