Night time Home Health Aide for ALS patient

My husband has ALS and I need help with his evening routine to get him ready for bed. I have severe arthritis in my back and I’m unable to assist him.

Gary is 49 years old, 5’6” and weighs 155 pounds. He was diagnosed with ALS nearly 5 years ago and almost completely paralyzed. The evening routine is as follows:

You will arrive at approximately 10 PM most nights, and some nights we may go out on a date and it may be closer to 11 or 12. We will let you know in advance when this will occur.

You will take the elevator to the third floor with Gary and help him get undressed, then you will help him use a urinal bottle and wash his hands, face, and brush his teeth and hair.

You will then use a Hoyer lift to get Gary into bed.

Then you will use a Cough Assist machine, which blows air into and then out of Gary’s lungs to help him clear any mucus and breathe easier.

Finally, you will plug in his wheelchair and telephone and then take the elevator back downstairs and go home.

The routine typically takes 30 to 45 minutes And you will be paid $35 a night for 10 PM bedtime or $50 a night when we go out on dates.

You should have experience caring for people in a wheelchair and ideally relevant certifications.

Please send us an email describing your experience and stating which days of the week you would be available.
