Hiring reliable, physically capable laborers to help build and maintain a market garden in Denville, NJ, now through September. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that requires both equipment operation and land shaping experience—ideal for someone with a landscaping or small-scale farming background.
Job Responsibilities:
You will:
Build 30 garden rows (50' x 3') on a sloped hillside
– Requires grading and shaping rows for runoff and stability
– Apply compost, install weed fabric, and use tools/machinery to prep rows
Operate small farm equipment:
– BCS walk-behind tractor (rotary plow, power harrow)
– Compact utility tractor
– ATV for hauling materials
Perform general farm tasks:
– Seeding, transplanting, irrigation, weeding, harvesting
– Wash and pack vegetables for local distribution
Requirements:
Experience grading and building garden beds on a slope
Must be confident operating:
– BCS and compact utility tractors
– ATVs for hauling tools and compost
Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
Work in variable weather (heat, rain, etc.)
Reliable transportation to Denville, NJ
Bonus: Prior farm, landscape, or hardscaping experience
Schedule & Pay:
June to September
Up to 30 hours/week, flexible scheduling
$18–$22/hr, based on experience and skills
Paid weekly via cash, Venmo, or Zelle
