Green Roots Lawn Care is a growing, locally owned and operated lawn care company based in West Orange, NJ. We have been in business for 6+ years and have clients across Essex and Union counties. Our mission is to offer safer and effective lawn care programs and provide an alternative to conventional fertilization programs. Currently, we are seeking a Lawn Care Technician who is career-minded, detail-oriented, and takes pride in a job well done. The ideal candidate will be independently driven, enjoys learning new things, is a lover of the outdoors and is self-motivated. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for residential customers, ensuring great and compassionate customer service. The candidate will be out on the field daily during the season, ensuring lawns are performing well and representing our commitment to green and safer lawns.
This is a seasonal position starting in March through November, Monday through Friday 7:30am-3:30pm. Extra hours may be available and offered during the season. The position will mainly involve applying nutrients to residential lawns, however, during the months of September and October the applicator will aerate and seed properties as an important part of our fall season lawn revival and seeding efforts. We are known for our commitment to reviving lawns during the fall season.

Primary Responsibilities:
Apply organic based fertilizers on residential lawns using both liquid and granular products.
Apply weed control treatments when and if needed.
Keep accurate record by keeping electronic records on a phone app.
Work closely with the owner and participate in on-going training sessions during the season.
Monitor and assess the conditions of residential lawns and provide recommendations to improve performance.
Maintain and assist in keeping our equipment operating effectively and make minor fixes and adjustments when and if needed.
Assist team in managing the warehouse and storage needs of the business.
Learn how to mix our fertilizer solutions and be an active contributor to filling our tanks
Ability to use hand tools, small equipment and heavy machines as needed.
Essential Requirements
Valid NJ Driver’s License
Must have a vehicle and be able to drive to and from our warehouse. We are located in West Orange, NJ
Ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and comfortable working with equipment.

Able to work in various weather conditions
Ideally, some experience in lawn fertilization is encouraged however we can make exceptions for the right candidate.
Salary/Wage
$20-23/hour, depending on candidate and experience
Hours
7:30am – 3:30pm. Monday – Friday with opportunity for more hours during the season.
