Company Overview:
We are a leading sheet metal fabrication shop seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Laser Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a CNC laser machine used for cutting sheet metal and metal plates. You may also assist with other tasks as needed on the shop floor.
Essential Functions:
Operate the Mitsubishi CNC laser, including:
o Selecting and setting up lenses based on material type and thickness
o Loading programs and configuring machine parameters
o Ensuring proper fixtures are in place for optimal performance
o Establishing proper stop locations and adjusting the laser beam focal point
o Managing and maintaining files to ensure accurate revision levels at all times
o Performing preventative maintenance as required
o Conducting dimensional inspections
o Reporting defective materials or issues with machines
o Supporting the production and fabrication of metal parts with additional machine shop operations as needed
Competencies:
Basic understanding of G-code programming
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Proficient with measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers (preferred)
Able to perform basic shop math
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Proficient with Windows-based computer systems
Detail-oriented and capable of following verbal and written instructions
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
At least one year of experience operating and maintaining a CNC laser
