Job Title: Plant Manager / General Manager – Chemical & Leak-Detection Manufacturing
Location: Northern New Jersey (must be based in or willing to relocate to NJ area)
Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 (base salary) + potential bonus/incentive pay
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager / General Manager to lead our manufacturing operation specializing in chemical and electronic leak‑detection equipment. Reporting directly to ownership, the GM will oversee the day‑to‑day and strategic operations of our facility.
Key Responsibilities
Lead production, quality control, and safety in a clean, regulated chemical/environmental environment.
Manage end‑to‑end manufacturing processes of precision leak detection products.
Supervise, train, and motivate plant staff (20–50 employees).
Ensure compliance with environmental, safety and regulatory standards (EHS, ISO, etc.).
Develop and execute process improvements and cost‑saving initiatives.
Oversee inventory control, supply chain coordination, and equipment maintenance.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams on new product introduction.
Own plant budgeting, forecasting, and operational P&L performance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Operations, or equivalent; advanced degree a plus.
Minimum 7+ years in plant leadership roles; ideally in chemical or leak/gas detection manufacturing.
Direct experience in production processes involving chemical handling or electronic sensors.
Demonstrated expertise in safety and quality control (e.g. ISO, EPA/LN, GMP/GLP).
Strong leadership, communication, and operational management skills.
Track record of process optimization, team development, and cost management.
Familiarity with NJ manufacturing/regulatory environment preferred.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with electronic leak or gas detection sensors manufacturing.
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma credentials.
Prior work in small to mid-size manufacturing environments (<100 employees).
