Position Overview
The Lead Carpenter / Foreman will be responsible for leading a small crew of skilled carpenters and laborers in the construction of custom decks and outdoor structures. This individual must be hands-on, organized, and able to make effective on-site decisions while maintaining clear communication with both the project manager and, when appropriate, the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a crew of approximately two to three team members, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality craftsmanship on every project.
- Perform and oversee all aspects of deck construction, including framing, decking installation, railing systems, and finishing details.
- Make sound, timely decisions in the field to maintain project momentum and address challenges proactively.
- Maintain effective communication with the Project Manager, providing regular updates on progress, material needs, and potential issues.
- Take daily photos of the jobsite to document work progress, safety, and quality control.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients when needed, representing the company’s values and commitment to excellence.
- Ensure all work complies with building codes, company standards, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization, and safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience, preferably in deck building or residential exterior construction.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership or foreman experience, with proven ability to lead small crews effectively.
- Strong understanding of framing, finish carpentry, and decking systems (Trex or similar composite products preferred).
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and basic tool set.
- Commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and high-quality workmanship.
- Bilingual English & Spanish is a huge plus.
- Eligible to work in the United States and able to be added to the company payroll.
