Position: Pump Repair Machinist

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pump Repair Machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a variety of water pumps and electric motors. This position requires the ability to work with various types of centrifugal pumps, including close-coupled, end-suction, split-case, and submersible, among others. The position also required the ability to work with various types of single and three-phase AC motors. The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of centrifugal pumps, AC motors, and the machining processes (the use of lathes, mills, and other machine tools).
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, Clean and Inspect pumps and motors.
- Test motor windings.
- Diagnose issues and recommend repairs or part replacements.
- Utilize machine tools such as lathes, mills, and other machine tools to repair or fabricate parts.
- Reassemble and test pumps to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform precision machining on various pump components, including shafts, sleeves, and impellers.
- Read and interpret schematics, and technical drawings.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot pump-related problems.
- Maintain and document accurate repair records and logs.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Monitor stock levels of common repair parts and consumables.
Requirements:
- English speaking, native or fluent.
- Proven experience as a Machinist within a pump repair setting.
- Strong knowledge of centrifugal pumps and electric motors.
- Proficiency in operating machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
- Ability to measure, and work with tolerances to ±0.001”
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Clean driver’s license.
- Excellent problem-solving and mechanical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical certification for machining are a plus.
- Basic tack welding skills are a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in shop environments with occasional fieldwork.
- Standing for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for precise machining work.
