Our client, a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services, has several openings in Closter, NJ for skilled Diesel Mechanics ready to take on the next challenge in their career.
$35-38/hour, commensurate with experience
Monday-Friday and every other Saturday, 12p-10:30p
Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
Inspect, diagnose and perform the highest level of troubleshooting and repair on trucks and equipment with Cummins, Mack and Detroit Diesel engines.
Perform advanced diagnostics and repair of ECMs and TCMs
Engine and transmission maintenance and repairs
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
Chassis component repairs and maintenance including air brakes system, suspension, drivetrain and steering components.
Maintain and repair exhaust systems equipped with DPF systems.
Qualifications
2+ years’ experience working as a heavy-duty Diesel Mechanic;
Experience with diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a highly desired
Experience with trouble shooting, diagnosis, hydraulics, and electrics crucial . Candidates should be able to provide specific (verbal) examples of work done in these areas.

HS/GED diploma, Trade school or similar training
Bilingual preferred
