Job Summary
Sponzilli Landscape Group, a luxury Landscape Design/Build company, is currently seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems in various vehicles and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Vehicle Diagnostics:
-Inspect and diagnose mechanical issues with diesel engines and associated systems, including fuel, exhaust, and electrical systems.
-Use diagnostic equipment to identify problems in diesel engines and related systems.
Repairs and Maintenance:
-Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhaul of diesel engines, including lubrication, brake systems, cooling systems, and transmission components.
-Replace or repair faulty parts such as pistons, fuel injectors, starters, or alternators.
Preventative Maintenance:
-Conduct regular inspections of diesel engines to ensure they are operating efficiently.
-Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and belt adjustments.
Engine Overhaul and Rebuilds:
-Perform detailed mechanical work on engine blocks, turbochargers, pistons, and related components.
System Repairs:
-Repair or replace diesel fuel systems, including fuel pumps and injectors.
-Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, alternators, and battery systems.
-Inspect, maintain, and repair exhaust systems, ensuring compliance with emissions standards.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
-Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment.
-Document diagnostic findings, parts replaced, and work completed for each job.
Safety Compliance:
-Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all work is performed in compliance with health and safety regulations.
-Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) during repairs and maintenance.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
-Quickly assess issues and identify solutions for unexpected problems that may arise during vehicle operation.
-Perform field repairs or assist in on-site diagnostics and troubleshooting for diesel-powered equipment.
Team Collaboration:
-Work with other mechanics, supervisors, and teams to ensure efficient operation of the shop or facility.
Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
-Maintain and keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and in good working order.
-Ensure proper calibration and usage of diagnostic tools and machinery.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
-Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with diesel engines.
-Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems in diesel vehicles.
-Ability to work with specialized diagnostic equipment and software.
-Understanding of safety standards and procedures in a mechanical environment.
-Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
