Overview: Assist the Maintenance Superintendent in overseeing the day-to-day activities of a team responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of Class 8 Diesel trucks and trailers. This role involves managing administrative duties, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise daily maintenance operations for a fleet of tractors and trailers.
Lead and coordinate a team of workers engaged in equipment servicing and repairs.
Provide technical guidance and ensure all work complies with safety and operational standards.
Perform administrative duties to support maintenance activities, including scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Superintendent to improve maintenance processes and workflow.
Ensure compliance with DOT, MOT, OSHA, OSHA International, CCOHS, and other regulatory standards.
Foster a positive work environment and ensure adherence to union agreements, if applicable.
Deliver excellent customer service and manage tasks in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a vehicle repair facility or a similar environment.
Hands-on experience with Diesel Class 8 trucks and trailers, including maintenance work under the hood.
Previous experience in a unionized work environment is preferred.
Diesel Mechanic certifications are highly desirable.
Proficient in industry-specific software and general knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Ability to handle stress and provide exceptional customer service.
In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements (DOT, MOT, OSHA, JWC, CCOHS).
