Music Makers International is looking for a passionate and musically talented individual to serve as a Music Instructor or Music Therapist for our adult daycare programming in Mays Landing, NJ.
This contract position is perfect for someone who loves to perform, connect through music, and has a strong interest or experience in working with neuro-diverse adults. You’ll use live instruments, singing, rhythm, and movement to lead engaging sessions that spark joy, encourage expression, and support development.
Sessions follow a structured curriculum, but you'll also have the opportunity to develop and customize your own lesson plans to meet the needs of the group.
Position starts in July.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead fun, interactive, and therapeutic music sessions using singing, instruments, and movement
Follow and/or adapt a provided curriculum to meet the needs of participants
Create and implement your own lesson plans (if not a credentialed therapist)
Establish a safe, inclusive, and lively musical environment
Collaborate with onsite staff and communicate regularly with Music Makers leadership
Attend monthly Zoom meetings for support, check-ins, and professional development
Use improvisation and creativity to adapt to group dynamics and individual needs
Requirements:
Must have access to a reliable car for transportation to and from the facility
Must be comfortable and experienced working with individuals on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities
Must play at least one instrument and be confident in singing
Experience leading musical activities in a classroom or group setting
Strong presence and ability to connect with participants through music
If not a board-certified music therapist, must be capable of independently planning and leading sessions tailored to this population
Dependable, flexible, and open to feedback
