CAD Solidworks Engineer

SUMMARY:

Uses the AutoCAD software to provide routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches & diagrams. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacturing. Make copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to database.

KNOWLEDGE OF SOLIDWORKS SOFTWARE PROGRAM MANDATORY.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Uses computer assisted design/drafting (AutoCAD) equipment and software to develop designs.

· Uses computer software (KCL CADalog) to assist with completing production drawings.

· Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings). This includes but not limited to; incorporating customer’s mark-ups, production mark-ups, and field dimensions of the job site.

· Create “As Built” production drawings from manufacturing’s mark-ups.

· Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.

· Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of machine and products.

· Draws finished designs from sketches.

· Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file on the company’s computer server.

· Communicate with Estimating, Project Management and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints.

· Communicate with other manufacturing companies for information missing from their cut sheets such as cutout dimensions, sizing, and ventilation requirements.

· Provide Project Management, Estimating and Production with a list of needs or missing information in the form of an RFI (Request For Information) via email.

· Change paper and toner in the Plotter when it is required.

· Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications:

- Proficient at using Solidworks. Revit knowledge is also a plus.

· Familiarity of CAD/CAM equipment and relationship of CAD to CAM.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with Engineering terminology.

· Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

· Track record of successful interaction with all levels of an organization especially with collaborative work teams.

· Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, planning, and organization skills.

· Ability to work without direct supervision and make appropriate decisions.

· Working Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

· Ability to sit and/or stand or any combination of sitting and standing at a desk for at least 4-hour intervals while working at a computer.

· Punctual.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (GED), Associate Degree preferred. 2 plus years related working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
