The Medical Billing Clerk is responsible for handling payments and patient inquiries, will have working knowledge of the billing and claims processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for heavy volume of payment entry of insurance checks.
Check all patient demographic information including insurance.
Verify accuracy of all charges.
Responds to patient inquiry calls and insurance company inquiries.on the phone
Ability to handle difficult conversations with diplomacy.
Completes other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned by manager.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of CPT Codes and ICD-10
Experience handling EOB's and ERA's
Ability to answer patient's questions about their bills
knowledge of payment posting
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel) and Outlook
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
Detail oriented, with strong organizational multi-tasking skills
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Flexible to work in a demanding, fast paced environment
Eclinical Works knowledge a plus
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an Orthopedics office, billing knowledge is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Low to moderate overtime required throughout the year.
Minimal hazards, general office working conditions.
Fast paced environment.
Prolonged periods of sitting.
