JOB SUMMARY:
Sets up and operates power brake/power press to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, arc, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal and structural shapes to blueprint or sketch specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Sets up and/or programs power press or power brake machines.
2. Reviews blueprint or sketch specifications.
3. Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed, using shims, rule, square, or templates.
4. Sets specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal.
5. Positions work piece to align layout marks to dies.
6. Operates power press or power brake machine activating ram that bends or cuts the metal work piece.
7. Checks to make sure each work piece is bent or cut to specifications.
8. Maintains the work area.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE working with a CNC PRESS BRAKE in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and basic math skills required.
Ability to use measurement instruments, and to read and understand blueprints required.
Computer skills preferred.
Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively with quality assurance personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Industrial / Manufacturing setting in a noisy environment.
Physically able to operate a press brake.
Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
Required usage of safety equipment.
