Hello,
I’m looking for someone local to South Jersey who can help restore, upgrade, and repair my classic 1978 GMC motorhome (Palm Beach edition). This is a project I’m passionate about, and I’m hoping to find someone with the right mix of experience, skills, and enthusiasm for vintage RVs.
### What Needs Work:
This motorhome is structurally sound and running, but it needs attention in multiple areas—especially the interior, which is original and dated.
#### Interior Work:
Cabinetry: Rebuild or refinish upper and lower cabinets; rehang or replace doors/drawers.
Upholstery: Cushions, dinette seating, and driver/passenger seats need to be reupholstered or replaced.
A/C System: Troubleshooting and/or replacement of roof-mounted A/C unit.
Flooring: Remove old carpet and install new flooring (likely vinyl plank or similar).
Lighting: Upgrade interior lighting to efficient LED fixtures.
Appliances: Evaluate or replace stove, fridge, and other built-ins if needed.
#### Mechanical/Utility Needs:
Basic plumbing and electrical inspections and upgrades as needed.
Some engine and drivetrain knowledge is a plus (GMC 403 V8 engine).
Generator maintenance or replacement advice would be appreciated.
Possible brake or suspension upgrades.
### Ideal Candidate:
Experience with RVs, van conversions, carpentry, or vintage vehicle restoration.
Comfortable working on-site (the RV is currently parked at my residence).
Dependable, communicative, and open to working in phases or as your schedule allows.
Can provide references or photos of similar work (preferred but not required).
This could be a great fit for a handyman, RV technician, retired mechanic, or experienced DIYer who loves this kind of project. Compensation is negotiable based on your skillset and the scope of the work you're able to take on.
If you’re interested, and can do any or part of the job, please reach out with a little about your background, any relevant experience, availability, and your contact info. I’d be happy to discuss the project in more detail and see if it’s a good fit.
Thanks for reading — looking forward to hearing from you!
