Dispatcher Duties (including but not limited to)
Prepare daily dispatch plan for drivers and equipment
Update board with any changes in load schedule
Monitor drivers’ hours to prevent DOT violations
Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments to accommodate breakdowns, late trucks, and other changes
Perform other duties as required and assigned and to work overtime as needed
Effectively use phone call or texting to transmit assignments to drivers
Provide drivers with directions or routes as needed
Answer incoming phone calls and direct all drivers with their next assignments, which should be planned
prior to their call so to not waste any time
Email customers with updates, as well as respond to customer emails regarding scheduling
Follow attendance policy, show up for work on time, and be ready to work assigned shift
Text drivers start times at end of day
Work with other office members to create an effective daily plan to keep drivers moving and profitable
Other expectations:
Experience with office software products such as email and Excel
Composure when interacting with co-workers
Reasoning, negotiating, and instructing skills
Effective communication skills
Ability to respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
Being able to work Monday-Friday 5am - 2pm or until workload is complete (Could also be needed to
start as early as 4am if needed, or as late as 3pm based on work load.)
Excellent customer service skills
High School degree or equivalent
Prior dispatching or trucking industry experience is preferred but not required
Being able to personally make educated, calculated dispatch decisions based on the overall well being of
the company to insure maximum efficiency and profitability of each driver
