Position Title: Architect / Database
Location: Union, NJ
Duration: 6+ Months
Job Description:
Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for data owners, stewards, consumers, and technical owners
Supporting data owners and stewards in the application, development, and promotion of data governance practices for their data assets, including identifying compliance gaps and their remediation
Serve as a liaison between business functional areas and technology to ensure that data related requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
Develop and maintain an inventory of the BBBY's data maps, authoritative systems, and owners
Define performance indicators and metrics to ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
Prepare Board and senior management communications relating to data protection and privacy strategy, risks, mitigations, breaches and response.
Maintain and keep up-to-date expert knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, legislative movement and practices. Maintain management's awareness of upcoming changes and design and implement appropriate processes to adjust to such changes.
Skills and Experience:
Experience leading others through transformational change by creating and executing an effective change management strategy
Proven experience in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with cross functional leadership to understand their business needs
Defining and implementing policies, processes and procedures for the governance and management of data, including data capture, storage, data architecture, data protection (security), and reporting
Defining standards for business intelligence, analytics and data science
Strong business acumen and operational capabilities across multiple areas such as finance, supply chain, operations, marketing, sales, HR, strategic planning, P&L management, acquisition and divestitures, and Legal
Knowledge of data management technology and usage strategy with considerable experience in emerging technologies such as analytics and artificial/business intelligence
Operational familiarity in the use of meta-data management, data quality, and data stewardship tools and platforms
Experience cataloguing data using technology
Demonstrated experience in developing and operationalizing data guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards,
Experience establishing and implementing standards to maintain controls in unstructured data environments
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is required.
5+ years of related work experience in a similar role in a Fortune 500 company or consulting practice at a national level.
Certification(s) Preferred: Obtained one or more of the following certifications: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or other related certifications.
Experience working with the GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, GLBA and other relevant privacy regulations in order to perform data governance, data protection, compliance program assessments and privacy program implementations.
Experience conducting privacy and security risk and/or gap assessments and internal privacy audits, reviewing privacy practices, and preparing reports and other deliverables that contain strategy, project, or technical analysis and communicating those results to management.
Knowledge of solutions such as One Trust, Archer, etc. is a plus.
Experience in project management and the ability to clearly communicate data protection and privacy issues verbally on both a formal and informal basis
