SummaryUnder the direction of the Facility Supervisor, a Cleaner is responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT facilities, and/or properties. Report any incidents occurred as directed by the supervisor. Roles and Responsibilities :
Must be able to perform cleaning duties as follows:
Clean and wash the interior of facilities.
Maintain lavatories, and replace towels, and other lavatory supplies.
Perform janitorial duties.
Perform policing of the responsible area during the tour of duty.
Perform other cleaning duties as directed.
Perform landscaping and snow removal duties needed.
Report any malfunctions that may be found while performing duties.
Use sweepers/scrubbers and related cleaning equipment.
Must have a working knowledge of building maintenance chemicals and procedures and be capable of using same safely
Must be able to understand written and oral directions
Must be able to work in harmony with fellow employees
Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs. of debris
Must be able to work with minimum supervision
Must be able to move furniture and equipment properly to perform cleaning duties
Must be available for emergencies
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Previous experience in the janitorial preferred
Must have a High School diploma or GED from a recognized and accredited school
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Capable of completing forms and carrying out duties of the position
Pass the pre-employment physical and background checks (interview, background check and pre-employment medical screening)
Must have flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays
