Are you a people person who loves working outdoors? Become a part-time seasonal employee for summer programs at the ABQ BioPark Zoo!
The New Mexico BioPark Society is now hiring seasonal staff to work in three areas: Carousel, Lorikeet and Giraffe Feeding, and Pedal Boat Rentals. The seasonal staff will begin weekends only through April and May and transition to daily operations after Memorial Day. Seasonal employment ends
September 2nd.
All staff will be cross-trained to work in all three programs and could rotate positions regularly.
Carousel Operator Duties: Provides a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for riders on the Endangered Species Carousel. Staff will provide exceptional customer service, keep the carousel clean, complete daily safety checklist and rider count, and ensure riders follow the safety rules.
Lorikeet and Giraffe Feeding Attendant Duties: Responsible for facilitating zoo guest feeding opportunities at the lorikeets and giraffe exhibits and educating the public on basic animal knowledge. Duties include to provide exceptional customer service, keeping the area clean, cash handling, and animal/public safety.
Pedal Boat Rental Attendant Duties: Assist visitors with pedal boat rentals, including; providing exceptional customer service, keeping life-jackets organized, and in good condition, review rules and waiver with the riders, and help riders get on and off boats safely. Staff must keep boats, dock and area clean and organized daily.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older
Pass background check
Able to lift 40 lbs.
Enjoy working outdoors in the sun
Must be comfortable working directly with birds
Be a team player with a positive attitude
Have great communication and top-notch customer service skills
Must be able to work weekends and holidays
The New Mexico BioPark Society is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit support organization for the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden and Tingley Beach. Summer program proceeds benefit various projects within the facility.
