We are a faith-based daycare center focused on providing a nurturing, loving and safe environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Due to our location within the walls of the church, collaboration between the daycare center and church staff provides a unique and enriching experience for the children and strengthens the bond between the church and the community. We are seeking a PreK Teacher with shared values and a strong commitment to building positive relationships with families, the church and the community. This position will report to the MDO Director, Senior Pastor, and Pastor Staff Parish Relations Committee (indirectly).

QUALIFICATIONS:

21 years of age or older

Minimum High School Graduate. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred

Completion of 45 entry level course hours in early childhood growth and development , as well as courses associated with NMELS.org

Minimum of 2 years experience in an early childhood growth and development setting

Experience in lesson planning and creating/maintaining educational portfolios

Current CPR certificate and first aid training

Knowledge of New Mexico State childcare regulations

Strong communication and Interpersonal skills

Patience, flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm

JOB DESCRIPTION

The PreK teacher shares responsibility for the care, education and nurturing of all children enrolled in Asbury’s MDO. Primary responsibility will require teaching the children enrolled in Asbury’s state funded PreK program basic skills to prepare them for kindergarten. The PreK teacher will help plan curriculum that addresses early childhood education requirements and adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Love and nurture all children in MDO’s care, foster individual growth and development

Maintain a safe and clean environment for children to learn and play

Complete and implement lesson plans, following FOCUS protocol

Incorporate numerous activities for learning: arts and crafts, singing, outdoor play, games, writing activities, interactive stories, and reading

Prepare children for kindergarten by teaching basic fundamentals such as letters, numbers, colors and shapes.

Be aware of situations affecting the emotional health of a child, following through with appropriate notification to the Director

Assist families in accessing screening referrals and follow through with service before, during and after the initial screening appointment

Be positive and professional in any interactions with MDO parents, keeping the focus on the child’s well being

Update the Bright Wheel communication app for families

Cleaning duties include but are not limited to removal of trash, disinfecting surfaces, restocking rooms with supplies, meal set up and clean up,

Keep up to date on professional credentials and best practices in early childhood education and childcare

Attend MDO staff meeting as required by the Director

Follow all MDO staff regulations regarding usage of time clock to record hours and sick time accrual

Position reports to MDO Director and Senior Pastor
