We are the parents of a 27 year old woman with down syndrome. She, was very active until a couple of years ago when she was injured in a sports accident. Unfortunately several factors have turned this into chronic back pain which we are working to find solutions for. She graduated from high school, so she is capable and can do most things she wants to do. Motivating her is a challenge, and so is transition from one activity to another. Before the pandemic she had several volunteer activities. We are trying to get her back out in the community, but some days all she wants to do is stay home.
We are looking for a woman to take her to volunteer activities, going to the mall, or staying home as needed. We are looking for help in a community direct/home care setting. Reliable transportation is required. Two days a week (Tuesday & Wednesday) for 6 hours each to start and more as needed. Background check will be performed as funds come from the NM MiVia Disability Waiver. 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
