Repair and maintain
Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment, buildings, and grounds. This may include fixing electrical switches, outlets, and circuit breakers, as well as repairing plumbing fixtures and unclogging drains.
Inspect and diagnose
Inspect and diagnose problems with equipment and machinery, and determine the best way to correct them.
Coordinate with contractors
Coordinate and oversee the work of outside contractors.
Create and maintain records
Create and execute work orders, prepare reports, and track and report on maintenance activities.
Communicate
Communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear instructions and interpret others' communication.
Follow safety precautions
Learn and observe all safety precautions, including those required by Cal/OSHA General Industry Safety Orders.
Attend meetings
Attend scheduled meetings and required trainings to maintain current industry knowledge.
Maintenance technicians should have strong communication skills, deductive reasoning, manual dexterity, and creative problem-solving skills. They should also have an intuitive feel for machines and be able to quickly spot when something is not right.
