Multi-faceted Manufacturing professional office person for Aerospace Machine Shop

Cost Estimator, Purchasing/Buyer, Materials Manager for smaller Precision/Aerospace Machine Shop

Due to the current size of our company and work load, this is a one person position currently. Some facets of the position may be assisted on or portions off-loaded during initial transitional period of taking this position.

The position will be opening up toward the end of this year. We anticipate a one to two month training period working alongside the person retiring from this position prior to the end of this year. (see more info below)

Preferred skills / experience / background see note below at end

1) Machine Shop / Manufacturing Cost Estimating

A) Past or current experience in manufacturing, preferably machine shop or related

B) Working knowledge of engineering drawings (“blue-prints”) of machined parts

C) Familiarity of machining principles and general machining operations

D) Cost estimating, Cost accounting, Data mining and similar using computer programs

E) Working with material take offs and bills of materials

F) Good math and reasoning skills

2) Computer skills

A) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

B) Strong overall computer skills and the ability to learn new programs

C) Good internet and e-mail skills

D) Working with ERP type programs and customer platforms like Oracle and similar

3) Purchasing

A) Working with, preparing, issuing and monitoring materials, tooling, supplies and processing PO’s

B) Working with and maintaining and monitoring Suppliers and Processors

C) Experience with and knowledge of standard purchasing procedures

4) Compliance & General

A) YOU MUST BE: US Citizen (requirement of doing business with our customers)

B) Knowledge and/or working experience with Raw Material Certs, Aerospace Specifications

C) Knowledge and/or working experience with processes like plating, heat treating, testing

D) Experience with customer-specific requirements and specifications

E) Working under ISO and or AS compliance and audit experience of such programs

F) Working/communication with customer representatives such as buyers, engineers, management personnel

NOTE: We understand that most folks will not have experience, knowledge or understanding of all of the above “preferences” This is a wish list and that is the reason we will be offering a training period.

Information and time line of hiring process (subject to change):

We plan on bringing candidate on board around the beginning of November 2024 with the intent to be in training and shadowing the person currently holding this position through to the end of this year. Because of the extent of this position's responsibilities, we anticipate needing adequate time for seeking candidates with as much experience as possible and planning interviews. The initial training may likely be 32 hours per week, Tues - Friday 7am - 3:30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid lunch. Compensation will be dependent upon experience and qualifications and negotiated by company ownership.
