POSITION SUMMARY:
The Machinist will provide machining services for production in support of production and facilities machine repairs and improvements. The Machinist also supports with Development & Applications project development for NPI’s (New Product Introduction (NPI) or New Product Development (NPD) is a process for creating a plan to take a product from early concept to final, go-to-market form). There is an opportunity for this contract position to become permanent employment. You must pass drug testing and a background investigation if offered the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Performs set up of lathes, mills, grinders, etc. for precision machining operations.
Performs standard maintenance on lathes, mills, grinders as per schedule.
Works from drawings, sketches, and measurements to transfer information to proper machine set ups.
Utilizing machine set up from drawings and sketches, fabricates parts to specifications.
Works with Maintenance Technicians to identify worn machine parts to fabricate new.
Assists maintenance technicians in troubleshooting machine malfunctions, providing ideas for improvement.
Fabricates components in a precision fashion to support proper machine operation.
Maintains workshop in a clean, orderly fashion in accord with 6S principles.
Utilizes correct PPE (personal protection equipment) at all times for general and specialized job functions.
Perform other duties as required based on business needs.
Independent judgment necessary. Supervisor is usually available.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree or two years of appropriate trade school, or equivalent experience.
One year of demonstrated machining experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 lbs on a continuous basis.
WORKING LOCATION
Belen, NM. May be limited travel to France / China.

Frequently: Standing, walking, sitting, keyboard use / repetitive hand motion, loud noises, vibration. (Position requires this activity 34% to 66% of the time)
Occasionally: Kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching and working overhead, Hand motion fine grasping, Hand motion gross grasping, climbing, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs, chemical fumes, Allergens: dust, mold and/or pollen (position requires this activity up to 33% of the time)
