Energy Educator

The National Energy Foundation (NEF) is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to cultivating energy literacy among K - 12 students, teachers, and families. NEF seeks PART-TIME, SEASONAL employees as Energy Educators. As NEF’s programs are contract based, energy educators will sign an employment contract for the presenting season and have no guarantee of contract renewal. Educators are compensated for official NEF training (Aug.) and presentations, mileage and travel expenses as outlined in the presenter manual. There are no additional benefits.

Pay ranges from $110 to $270, depending on if the educator works half day, full day, alone or with a partner. A full day alone would pay $270/day plus mileage for a driver and food per diem.

I. Responsibilities in conducting instructional energy education presentations in elementary and secondary classrooms:

1) Knowledgeable or willingness to learn about basic energy sources, processes, and energy efficiency

2) Energetic individual, presentations require standing and interacting with students in an enthusiastic manner

3) Engage students with clear communication, written and verbal and strong vocal projection

4) Comfortable working as a 1 or 2-person team

5) Comfortable with Keynote, PowerPoint and online presentations/equipment technology

6) Represent NEF and sponsors in a professional manner

II. Education/Experience Skills:

1) Classroom teaching experience or prior work with children desirable

2) Capable of using all software and equipment independently for implementation of programs

III. Personal Requirements:

1) Current driver’s license

2) Current personal auto insurance coverage

3) Ability to travel by air/car

4) Access and use of reliable transportation to travel to, from and between scheduled presentations (work assignments)

5) Personal credit card required for travel expense charges

a. (Reimbursed upon completion and submission of paperwork to NEF)

6) Available for training session when needed

7) Willing to comply with all school security/safety procedures

a. (i.e., fingerprinting, drug testing, vaccines, background check, etc.)

8) May be subject to sponsor approval

9) Capable of carrying up to forty pounds

10) Must adhere to NEF dress code

11) Must adhere to the NEF Energy Educator COVID Policy
