Our paid canvassers are responsible for talking to voters to discuss the upcoming election and the House candidate who is running in their district. Their duties include passing out campaign literature, asking residents to vote in the upcoming election, and persuading them to vote for the Democratic candidate in their district.
An ideal paid canvasser has a basic working knowledge of Democratic issues and values and is passionate about the election process and voter participation. This requires excellent communication skills, customer service, and marketing knowledge. They also need to love working outside and meeting new people.
Here are examples of a Canvasser’s duties:
Go door-to-door to discuss the upcoming election and district candidate;
Demonstrate a willingness to learn about issues and election process;
Gather information such as plans to vote and support for candidate;
Confidently answer questions and forward questions to campaign/candidate;
Possibly recruit, train, onboard and mentor new canvassers;
Consistently meet daily and weekly goals for campaign plans.
Qualifications:
Good communication skills.
Ability to read and write in English.
Good people skills.
Energetic and physically able to walk up to 2 miles during each work shift.
Prior canvassing or equivalent experience is a plus.
Proficiency in speaking Spanish is a plus.
Pay rate starts at $15.00 per hour. These positions are part-time & temporary.
One bonus hour of pay for every 20 hours of work completed (a 5% bonus to base pay)
Performance based raises and bonuses throughout the entire election season.
