Receiving and unloading: Unloading materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and securing them for transport
Storing: Selecting storage locations for items and stacking them to assigned places
Shipping: Assembling items for shipment and loading and unloading products from and onto tractor trailers and rail cars.
Quality assurance: Checking for damaged goods, reporting shortages or quality deficiencies, and ensuring loads are centered and properly stacked
Safety: Following safety regulations and company guidelines, being aware of possible hazards, and keeping a safe distance from platform and ramp edges
Maintenance: Performing regular machine maintenance and determining when repairs need to be made
Forklift operators should also be able to work as part of a team, adhere to strict production schedules, and evaluate systems and processes for improvement.
