Job Title: Houseperson

JOB SUMMARY
The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel and providing customers with quality service in a timely and friendly manner. Responsibilities vary but may include: cleaning and maintaining the appearance of the public areas of the hotel, collecting, sorting and distribution of clean items to its designated areas, deep cleaning of assigned areas, restocking housekeeping stations, delivering service items to guest rooms upon requests from the front desk, and assisting other departments in need of extra set of hands with special projects.
JOB DUTIES
1. Cleanliness: Responsible for cleaning hotel public spaces. Stocks housekeeping supplies and linen. Responsible for delivering housekeeping related items to guest rooms.
2. Guest Service. Accountable for guest satisfaction as it pertains to housekeeping service at the property. Assists and responds to requests in a positive and timely manner while providing the highest level of quality service to the guest. Works as a team player in meeting guests and department needs, and actively contributes to the efforts of other departments as necessary. Understands and follows Inn of the Governors employee handbook.
3. Safety/Risk Management: Ensures a clean and safe work area in compliance with Inn of the Governors, local, state and federal regulations. Reports all maintenance needs and service issues. Knowledgeable on safe use of chemicals utilized within the housekeeping department. Follows all Inn of the Governors procedures for guest/employee incidents. Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
4. Self Management: Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing and prioritizing work duties. Adheres to Inn of the Governors policy, grooming and appearance standards, and general work rules and department procedures. Attends all required department and hotel meetings. Responsible for proper use of all equipment and supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Physical Requirements
1. Required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
2. Constant walking, standing, stooping, and climbing of stairs.
3. Required to work both inside and out in a noisy environment.
License and Certificates
1. CPR training desired
Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
Skills and Abilities
1. Good eyesight and attention to details essential.
2. Knowledge of cleaning materials and proper use required.
3. Supervisory abilities needed.
4. Ability to speak and understand Spanish desirable.
5. Good overall knowledge of housekeeping duties required.
