Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary (KSAS) is dedicated to providing eldercare and hospice for unwanted senior dogs, horses and poultry in a peaceful and serene sanctuary setting.
Kindred Spirits practices a sustainable and ecological approach to all aspects of animal care. This includes mindfulness of how we interact with animals in entertainment and commercial contexts. In our advocacy for all animals and the environment, KSAS serves vegan food and refreshments.
Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary has developed our own unique and highly integrative Wellness Care Program that requires thorough training and on-the-job learning. As part of our hiring process, applicants will be expected to complete the following steps to be eligible for long-term employment:
-Initial 25 hours of volunteering at Kindred Spirits to ensure good fit for the job.
-Kindred Spirits' 3 month Training Course:
Learn and implement our mission.
Understand and utilize our Wellness Care Program
Learn holistic assessment skills for each animals' changing wellness needs as they approach the end of life.
Ongoing employment at KSAS is contingent upon satisfactory completion of our 3 month training course.
All Animal Caregivers agree to a minimum one-year commitment. A 20-30 hour work week is required.
This work requires a high degree of self-reflection, personal self-development and overall mental, emotional and physical fitness and stamina. An understanding of Kindred Spirits' culture and a commitment to its mission and goals is essential.
Requirements:
Veterinary Assistant or Kennel Attendant experience with minimum of 1 year experience working in one of these fields at the same job.
Veterinary Technician or Nursing Degree a plus.
Must live within an easy 30 min drive of Santa Fe, NM.
Must have a reliable form of transportation.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push up to 150 lbs in a wheelbarrow and work in all weather conditions.
Must be highly reliable and able to work effectively in a team setting.
